Who are you Michel Pascal and what is YOGANANDANCE ?
I am a French meditation teacher, author, film director and singer, born in Paris, and living in LA. As a singer, I’ve performed at Carnegie Hall close to every year, from 2016, and also with Myron McKinley, the Music Director of the Legendary band, Earth Wind and Fire. I started to sing on stage at the age of 9, also in churches and cathedrals. At 16 years old, I became professional singer in France.
I love Hip Hop, because for me, it is a modern shamanic way to celebrate the elements. So, I try to integrate Hip Hop as an influence in my music, like in Yoganandance, the first song from Yogananda The Spiritual Musical.
I have composed, arranged, and performed this song with the words of Yogananda, the first Indian Guru who brought meditation and yoga to America. Millions of people have been inspired by Yogananda, including Gandhi, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra, Michael Beckwith, Sister Jenna, Temple Hayes, Marianne Williamson, and Yogi Cameron.
In 1998, I met Michael Jackson in a private meeting at Musee Grevin, in Paris. He was interested to meet spiritual French artists… I was chosen. We had 45 minutes — a private, fascinating exchange, about spirituality and groove.
My passion is to combine Hip Hop and spirituality. When I composed the song Yoganandance, I felt the soul of Michael Jackson guiding me for the groove. I played all the instruments, with loops, and real parts. I started to create a loop, between Hip Hop and BeatBox. I come also from jazz music, scat, so it is my passion to create groove, and to combine loops and real vocal patterns. I did not want to quantize my voice, in order to keep the authentic inspiration as raw as possible, because for me, Hip Hop is also a music from the roots of who we are. After I wrote Yoganandance, I brought it to my friend, the incredible sound engineer producer, Esteban Calderon, in his studio in LA, and immediately we felt something very special, deep…
I presented this song to Guy Eckstine (award winning Music Producer), and he encouraged me to put it online, just to follow my intuition…
This song will close Yogananda The Musical, like a feast to celebrate The Divine Energy. More than ever, we need to meditate…

Gucci Gordy turns his music hobby into a lifestyle
Q. Who is Gucci Gordy? Gucci Gordy is the mmelinum version of Barry Gordy of Motwn.
Q. How’d you get into the music industry to begin with? I started in St Louis, and it started out as a hobby.
Q. Why would an artist get dropped from a major label? Does it all just come down to the bottom line? An artist would get dropped by not meeting expectations versus the risk of the investment. It does because labels lose a lot of money because they spend money frivolously and if an artist don’t recoup their money, they get dropped. Major Labels spend money differently and artist are left to recoup. Any artist would have to have an upward trajectory.
Q. I constantly hear incredibly impressive singing talents in places like the rice houses in St. Louis or even street corners in Detroit … why don’t some people get discovered while other less talented people do? Because they work harder. If it’s meant to happen, it will happen.
Q. Which is more important for musician’s success: talent or marketability? Both
Q. How important is seeing a band play live in deciding whether to sign them? Important because you get to see the full package from their stage presence, crowd interaction, and crowd likability.
Q. How do A&R’s search for new talent these days? Word of mouth and research on all social media platforms.
Q. How do you stay organized in such a vast industry? Repeating the same protocol, creating a curriculum and staying consistent by creating a regime and sticking to the process.
Q. What was the most recent signing that you were a part of? I signed Leeky G Bando, artist based out of New York, Chris Echols, and Destineeee Lynn.
Q. Where can the world follow you? @guccigordy
Q. What’s next for you in the music world? As an executive, my next move is scaling the business up by diversifying my portfolio by signing labels and international artist.
