Rene Bonét Is Turning Heads With New EP: “DRILLNB: Sample Season”
Rene Bonét is a new find for us and she enters the music industry at a time when it’s been experiencing a steady stream of artists who enter with stars in their eyes in a bid to make it to the top, but unfortunately only a few are able to reach their desired destination as the field is fiercely competitive and only the best of the lot survive and make it in the long run. Rene Bonét is one of them who has survived all odds and finally made it to the current breed of singers who have been recognized for their work owing to their exceptional talent. She is one of those who has a fresh perspective towards the craft, and that’s what makes her stand out from the crowd. Her tonal quality sets her apart from her contemporaries, as it has a deep, raspy tone that adapts to distinct genres with much ease.
The top ten charting R&B artist has resurfaced once again to give us another small body of work that is pure nourishment to the ear. “DRILLNB: Sample Season” is comprised of the popular UK Drill music sound blended with R&B and samples from some of the most iconic songs you can imagine, with the EP’s lead single “Wish” sampling the very great but controversial Mr. pied piper himself R.Kelly.
Wish, amply titled, takes pieces from the very memorable song “I Wish” however there’s a slight spin to it, to where she discusses how people feel when you’ve reached success but the wish you hadn’t, with lyrics like “You wish I was doing bad, but I’m doing better”. Rene’s tone and vocal control on this song and the entire project once again exemplifies her experience and confidence in her delivery.
Rene Bonéts’ thoughts on this project was blend all of her favorite styles of music together into something that she would consider her own, and that is where she settled in at with “DRILLNB” which again is Drill music mixed with R&B. To put this project together she reached out to long term friend and collaborator Weku Did That, who aces the production on the project. “DRILLNB” is set to be a series of projects that blend Drill Music and R&B with its first installment being “Sample Season”. Rene Bonét is setting the bar once again with this and is earning the right to be called, “The Queen of DRILLNB”.
For the people who have gotten an exclusive listen to the project, they are saying things like “ this is what Ice Spicee would sound like if she did R&B”. The Virginia native is often compared to many great artist but she has definitely established a sound of her own with “DRILLNB”.

WeslyNorth: The Eclectic Artist’s Journey from The New Hippie Nation to “I Take It Back”
WeslyNorth was born in Salisbury, MD on the 3rd of December in 1988 as William Hudgins Named after his father, who was an army vet and later became a local DJ. William was raised in the church, as his mother is a devout Jehovah Witness who sung in the choir regularly.
Born into a musically inclined household, WeslyNorth developed a love for the art at a young age. At the age of 18, WeslyNorth started a collective of artists and musicians in DC called The New Hippie Nation. The collective grew into something that still thrives in DC where most know him as Willy Wesly.
His creative process consists mainly of views that allow his writing to flow. Bright rooms with windows, pops of vibrant color and tea with honey help him focus on curating the songs he’s known for, but don’t box him in. His style is eclectic as he pulls from artist inspiration he’s heard his entire life. Growing up listening to music from Fred Hammond, OutKast, De La Soul, J Dilla, Slum Village and Nate Dogg. Artists like James Fauntleroy, Jon Bellion, beaux nox, aldae, Isaiah Huron, Dijon and Sunsetto are just a few of the many he aspires to today.
His new album is titled “I take it back. An apology to those he has not shown his best to. It is a hopeful reverse of bad karma for anything negative he’s done or said. He sees this album as a way to say, “If I’ve ever hurt you or hurt myself..I take it back, maybe I meant it in the moment but I take it all back now.”
The album is a mix of melodic soul pieces that feature stadium sounds and choir harmonies. It is a cinematic, feel good, road trip, morning mood type of vibe that we cannot wait to hear.
