D Kirk KV developed a passion for music from his father. D Kirk KV’s sound is really from his heart and his love of music. Although he originates from the east coast in Philadelphia, he has the west coast style and swagger. Kirk’s family and friends are of tropical descent (the Caribbean and Jamaica). He fuses this aspect of his life into his music. This can be seen in his song “Put It Down” on which he featured Sunnie.

He describes his music and what he writes is about love, life, enjoying yourself, as well as catchy, and mostly a vibe a sound that’s unique a mixture of rnb, hip hop, and dancehall. Its something relatable and makes you want to go out and dance as well as think about life.

As far as producers that he looks up to he says there are many that inspire him to be who he is. He says his main inspirations are Timbaland, Hitmaka, and Benji Yang. He says that these producers have helped him shape his sound from island to sounds like RnB, HipHop and even trap RnB throughout the years.

D Kirk grew up listening to artistes like Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Big Sean, and J. Cole. These artistes greatly influenced his sonic approach to making music.
