OBleak; Deadlier than ever.
It has been one week to date since a path of sonic destruction was unleashed on streaming services worldwide. Three words; Deadly Night Shade. Emcee and hip-hop producer oBleak hopped out the casket swinging with this debut LP release.
After one play through, I can already tell you that this record is a pure sonic journey. Introducing the listener to concepts of story telling mixed with horror culture and a 90s hip-hop sound that brings it back to a different time.
With tracks like, Abbott and Costello Meet oBleak. Taking a spin on the early 1900s comedy/horror duo. While combining hard hitting percussion with witty pop culture references and visceral turntable scratching.
Tracks like this left me with a lasting impression of this emerging artist. The concept is so unique and new, yet nostalgic all the same.
It doesn’t even end with this nine song album though, oBleak has been steadily releasing music videos in support of the new release; partnering with renowned Chicago director and videographer Akash Hans.
I found each video I watched to be a monster of its own, no pun intended; With vibrant special effects visuals and unique characters pertaining to the concept of each track.
When I listened to the album I understood the vision being portrayed but these new music videos really took the listener experience to the next level. You can appreciate the attention to detail.
