What is your name and what city do you rep?

My Name Is Anthony Darrell, I’m From North Long Beach Ca

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

My latest projects vary from music, to film and television. I’ve done movies like American Skin and Foster Boy. I also starred in an NBA commercial with Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell, as well appearing in multiple tv shows like Mayans, The Rookie, and most Recently a reoccurring role in NBC’s Young Rock.

As far as music goes, I released my latest single “Do Yo Shit” which happens to be a club record with a WestCoast summertime feel. I love being creative with my mind, my voice and my hands. So any way I can express myself artistically I can and will.

What is unique about you and your music?

I practice the art of story telling. I feel like my delivery, my flow, and the all around substance in my music varies depending on what type of track I’m on. I work on my craft day in and out, and I can flow and deliver on most vibes, but I never lie in my music. It ranges from love songs, or something heart felt, to something ratchet, or motivational. It all depends on what point I’m trying to get across to the audience.

When did you realize you were going to act and do music professionally?

I’ve had a deep love for acting since a child. I’ve taken several acting and drama classes, as well as stand up comedy competitions. Anything I could do to gain knowledge or further myself in acting I was committed to it. As far as music, Ive always had a deep love for listening to music and writing poetry. In 2010, I randomly spit some poetry over a beat from an associate of mine. He couldn’t believe I wrote it, and I couldn’t believe how much he, and others liked and connected with what I had to say. So from there I began my music journey.

What type of music do you listen to?

My taste in music varies. I’d listen to any type of music for the most part. As long as it speaks to me. But what I listen to regularly is a lot of neo soul, hip hop, rnb and some pop.

What inspires you to write music?

What inspires me to write music is just the love for it. I can’t help to speak back to a beat that speaks to me. It moves me. Music is powerful. It’s mentally, emotional, and spiritually provoking. It’s a powerful gift to have and it come with great responsibility. It has the power to destroy, heal, or build. So I just look at it as another way to put some goodness out into the world.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

When Im not doing music, I’m on set doing a movie, comedy skit, tv show, photography, videography, poetry, painting, drawing, something creative or relaxing. I also like to do a lot of community work, so I’ll go down to LA and give back to the less fortunate.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

I realized how important marketing, networking, and social relationships are. Just how much of a business this actually Is, Vs just releasing music. More goes into this field.
